Alex's Space
This is a space for what I'm doing right now. Inspired by
what's a now page?
happening
I've wanted to create my blog for some time now, so I'm tracking down the articles I have strewn across the place (such as my work's confluence) and putting them here (blog). I am interested in philosophy, and I've been reading up on Plato's works.
So after Euthyphro, I am now reading Plato's Apology.
Oh also, I've recently gotten into Mahjong thanks to a (very patient) friend of mine teaching me and some others.
This is a super fun game and I hope to play a bunch more. I recently hosted a 'Mahjong club' on Sunday morning where (un)healthy amounts of tea were drunk.
learning
I've also been continuing a deep dive on data structures and algorithms (DSA), as well as system design principles. Along the way, I'm conjuring up delusions of becoming a competitive programmer. Meanwhile for sysdesign I am following the “Grokking the System Design Interview” and various Youtube channels since those resources are really to-the-point.

There's been an insane amount of movement in the AI space, as usual, and I've been tinkering with the latest tech. Here's a great talk (link) from the one-and-only Andrej Karpathy at Y Combinator, on Code 1.0, 2.0 and now 3.0 with LLMs as “human-like” machines. I do want to see how MCP servers come into play in the workplace, but moreso right now I want to learn about RAG and the underlying mechanism for memory in these transformer systems. That's something I'll start with and hope to make a blog post about!
